Henry Hudson
Henry Hudson attempted to go on four different voyages. the first 2 were unsuccessful, but the last 2 were successful and he made it to the new world. he discovered the Hudson Bay, strait, and river. on his way back to the Netherlands, his crew became angry with him because they had to stay on there voyage over the cold winter and they were running low on supplies so they created a mutiny and left him behind. Hudson went on more then one voyage unlike Coronado where he only went on one.
Peter Minuit
Peter Minuit was born in the 1580's. He sailed for the Dutch, and he had two major voyages. He first went to Manhattan then to the New World. on his journey he ran into the Lenape tribe, which are also known as the Delaware Indians. Unlike Coronado Minuit sailed for the Dutch and Coronado sailed for Spain.
Bartolomeu Dias
Bartolomeu Dias sailed for the royal court in Portugal. His mission for his first voyage was to find the southern tip of Africa. When he completed his mission he named it the "The Cape of Storms" then later it was renamed to "The Cape of Hope". He sailed with Da Gama until they reached The Cape Verde Islands, after that he went back to his home. Dias sailed to the tip of Africa and Coronado Sailed to the new world.
Sir Francis Drake
Sir Francis Drake was one of 12 siblings. he began sailing at the age of 18 when he joined Hawkin Family Fleet. to begin his career he worked on many slave voyages to get money. He sailed to panama and attacked their towns for silver and gold. when sailing he ran into many groups of people tribes, but the main one he encountered was Mapuche. The Mapuche were found on the Mocha Island of Peru. When drake and his men reached the islands they were attacked by the Mapuche. Drake and his men were the first people to circumnavigate the globe. Coronado went to the new world and encountered groups of Native Americans but Drake only encountered different groups of people.
Jacques Cartier
Jacques Cartier was born in 1491. He found and explored the St. Lawrence river, he also explored parts of Canada. he had 3 main expeditions. he was sent by King Frances to the new world to find a new way to the West. he also explored the west coast of Newfoundland. his main goal was to find spices, riches and the Northwest passage. in 1541 he set out for his third voyage with 5 ships. Unlike Coronado Cartier went on more then one voyage and was given more then one ship for some of his voyages.
Hernando de Soto
Hernando de Soto was born in 1500. he went on four voyages, in 1521 he went as a soldier with Francisco Pizarro against the a chieftain named Urraca. then in 1524 he went to Nicaragua and became wealthy off slave trade. also in 1530 he went to Peru with Pizarro to conquer the Inca empire. Then in his last voyage in 1538 he lead an expedition of his own. H then died of a fever. Soto had a large group of men and Coronado only had a large group of men when they were on land.
